The Deron Cherry Foundation was established in 1992 by former Kansas City Chiefs player, Deron Cherry. Today, our foundation supports three charities, Score 1 for Health, Camp Quality Greater Kansas City, and Answering the Call through fundraising, monetary donations, and hosting events to bring awareness and volunteerism to the community. After all the years Kansas City supported Deron in his football career, he takes pride in being able to give back in meaningful ways to his community.
SCORE 1 FOR HEALTH
Deron co-founded Score 1 for Health more than 30 years ago, and his ongoing commitment has helped the organization advance their mission and improve the well-being of the communities served. As a preventative health program, Score 1 is focused on reaching elementary-aged children in the greatest need, including urban core and low-income families from under-resourced neighborhoods. Kansas City University student doctors administer free, in-school health screenings and also offer resources for health maintenance, from medical, dental, vision and other basic health care services in Greater Kansas City and Joplin.
Their goal is to ensure that Kansas City’s elementary children are able to succeed early in life and are not limited by undiscovered health problems. They believe healthier families make healthier communities and strive to make a difference every day for these under-served communities. They currently provide services to 40 elementary schools across greater Kansas City and Joplin.

CAMP QUALITY GREATER KANSAS CITY
Camp Quality Greater Kansas City ensures that every child who has been diagnosed with cancer can experience the laughter-filled joy of summer camp and inspiring, year-round, family retreats, at no cost to them. These programs are lifelines of laughter, friendship, and hope for kids that need it most. Whether it’s roasting marshmallows under the stars, competing in team building games, or crafting with their companion, Camp Quality believes in creating memories that last far beyond the final day of camp.
Answering the Call
Answering the Call was founded in 2015 to support all first responders in a time of need through financial assistance for their families and compensation for lost wages. They also strive to bring community awareness and a way for citizens to support first responders and their families.
Since the organization was founded, over $1.3 million has been donated to support injured first responders and their families, with over 300 heroes helped. They are committed to giving back to the brave men and women who sacrfice so much for our safety. Every dollar makes an impact, and together, we’re helping them heal.

The impact and positive change the Deron Cherry Foundation has been able to make in our Kansas City community is largely thanks to our generous donors, our dedicated volunteers, and our supportive benefactors. By serving as a connector for our donors, we are able to amplify the reach of partner nonprofits, foster collaboration, and make it easy for supporters to give back in a way that is intentional, transparent, and deeply rooted int he local community. Financial assistance is often the biggest way to make an impact on lives that need it most. Choose from a one time donation, monthly, quarterly, or annually to become a part of the Deron Cherry Foundation team. Your donation will directly help children receive the health screenings and preventative care they need, provide kids battling cancer a chance to be a kid again, and provide financial assistance to first responders and their families as they recover from injuries sustained on the job.
